"Radio Rebel" Endorses Michael Skelly

FROM TRUITT FOR CONGRESS COMMITTEE
9 March 2008
Independent candidate for Congress drops out and endorses Democratic opponent

Former CNN Radio talk show host John Truitt dropped out of the race for US Representative from the 7th Congressional District, and announces his support for Democratic candidate Michael Skelly.

In a statement on his web site www.truittfortruth.com, Truitt describes Skelly as "one of the most impressive men I've met in quite a while". He goes on to say, "When it comes to creative thinking and finding solutions to the problems that face our country today, Michael Skelly is light-years ahead of the encumbent John Culberson. I think Michael will do a good job for us, and I am urging all my supporters to vote for and do whatever you can to elect him as our US Representative in the Congress from the 7th District."

Truitt announced the end of his campaign a week before the Texas primaries, saying that the importance of the national Presidential election made it impossible to ask supporters not to vote so they could sign a petition to place his name on the ballot. He returned all contributions to his campaign and urged his supporters to vote in the Primaries as their and his patriotic duty.

John Truitt left his position papers on Iraq, national healthcare and economic recovery on his web site "in the hopes that others will pick up on these ideas and push them along". He also left his famous article "7 WAYS TO PROFIT FROM LOSING YOUR JOB" at the bottom of his home page to be downloaded by "victims of our current economic downturn who need help right now."

As to future political plans, Truitt said "perhaps we'll try again in 2010". The award-winning author is also considering another radio talk show to give more listeners in the Greater Houston area "equal time to speak their minds" prior to the November election.
